CIMA

Founded in 1975, CIMA's core purpose is to challenge music industry monopolies and create more opportunities for Canadian musicians in an industry that has long been dominated by major labels. CIMA (Canadian Independent Music Association) sought our help to refresh their visual identity, messaging, and website, aiming to empower their mission and amplify their voice. Our challenge was to reframe CIMA as a bold and capable advocate, shaping the future of the Canadian music scene.

We positioned CIMA as a catalyst for change, building careers and businesses within the music industry. The concept of 'Make It' became the source of our creative direction, presenting CIMA as a movement that empowers and drives progress. The CIMA wordmark, made of custom mono-width letterforms, conveys strength and timelessness, while the logomark's solid blocks represent a concrete foundation—reflecting CIMA's role in helping Canadian music makers build and succeed in their musical careers.

Once translated to digital, the CIMA website now functions as the central hub for the brand, and membership portal.
